The Movie
Kellerman's Mountain House in the film was actually shot in two states - Virginia and North Carolina. The filmmaker carried fences by truck from one state to another to make the location appear continuous.
Both 'Time of my Life' and 'Hungry Eyes' written by Frankie Previte, John DeNicola, Donald Markowitz were number one records in 1987.
When auditioning actors for the original film, the film-makers and choreographer began with all the auditionees having to dance to Dirty Dancing music.
At the start of Jennifer Grey's dance preparation for the film, the filmmakers video taped her early mambo lessons so that after she had learned the routines, she could refer to them and recreate her original mistakes. The actress playing Baby in Dirty Dancing, The Classic Story On Stage repeated this process.
The writer of the film makes a cameo appearance in the movie playing a guest who dances with Johnny Castle.
Eleanor Bergstein picked the music for the original film from her record collection before she even started writing the script. She made a cassette entitled EB's Dirty Dancing which she sent to movie execs to sell the film. Every major studio turned her down. At the time of publishing the original soundtrack has sold over 44 million copies and still counting!
